Michael Ferrin

Class of 2015
Philadelphia, PA

I come to CR from the porches of West Philadelphia. I grew up around woodworking; my father is a luthier, but I didn’t get interested in woodworking until I was in my twenties, after working as a bike messenger and studying printmaking and book-binding. I worked as a maintenance carpenter, then as a cabinetmaker for an eco-friendly design/build firm, and most recently as a shop tech at an open-access shop and part time with a designer friend out of his garage workshop. I am interested in finding ways to combine my passion for fine woodworking with my beliefs in sustainability, cooperative organizing, and mutual aid. If there’s a fire and beer, I’ll be there.
